| ■ INTRODUCTION OF THE ASSOCIATION |
The Nippon Technical Analysts Association (hereinafter abbreviated as "NTAA") was established in 1978, triggered by the needs to compile a book titled "History of Japanese Charts." Then, the late Professor Saichiro Suminoe, the first chairman of the NTAA played a main role in holding the first general meeting of technical analysts in Japan and it was held on March 23, 1978. The attendants at the meeting resolved the establishment of the NTAA and the publication of the "History of Japanese Charts," and they started to endeavor to set up an association and compile and publish the book. At the time of the establishment, the Association aimed at (1) the collection and the protection of documents related to the technical analysis from being scattered and lost, (2) the upgrading of technical analysis theories through study among the members, and (3) the promotion of fraternity among the members. This philosophy has been followed to date. In 1999 when the qualification test system was first introduced in Jap an, the number of the members was increased to about 700. The principal operations of the NTAA include the holding of lecture and study meetings, the publication of bulletins and newsletters, the implementation of Asia Caravan, and the participation in the meetings of the International Federation of Tech-nical Analysts (IFTA). Hence, the NTAA is a nonprofit association that contributes to the steady development of technical analysis to keep abreast with the development of the globalized era of Internet.
