Profile

Stefan Nilsson is a Tokyo-based investor and entrepreneur. Having managed the Tokyo office for a global macro hedge fund firm, he then worked in asset management and prime brokerage at Bear Stearns Japan before heading up capital introduction in Japan and Singapore at JP Morgan. During his many years in the hedge fund industry, Stefan has worked with hundreds of hedge funds, from global multi-billion dollar managers to small, local start-ups. He started his career in hedge funds in London prior to relocating to Japan in 2004.
He currently runs his own firm, HFC Advisory Group, where he primarily focuses on alternative investments and natural resources. Stefan is a director of Terrasias Capital, a single family office, and founder of the Hedge Funds Club, a major Asian network of hedge fund managers and investors set up in 2005.
Stefan is an active board director for both commercial and non-profit organisations in Japan and globally. Among his current board positions are Japan Chairman of SNS – Centre for Business and Policy Studies, Board Director of Japan-Sweden Society and Vice Chairman of Ljusdals Bandyklubb.
Stefan was educated in Sweden, USA and England and received his MBA from Leicester University.
